What is it with me and rats? This found feeding a cooker in a local farmhouse when they were renewing the ceiling.

"Well it's never been a problem before!"

JUST enough insulation so the breakers never tripped. The fact the RCD doesn't work might be an issue too!

rodents love insulation, if only they could be made less tasty, coat them in marmite?

How do you propose coating rats in Marmite? Catch and release?
You could build a run, like they use when they do sheep dipping?  Rat dipping? If some enterprising soul were to stand at the other end with a bunch of sticks and shove them up each rats 'arris as they come out...Viola! Polish toffee apples!

Reminds me of an old joke,

if some nature-lover says "I love mice" (or squirrels, cats etc)

just tell them "me too! we must swap recipes"

Lori, its to both grind down their teeth, and to actually sharpen whats left of them.
That would mean rats must have very soft teeth,,surely?

If the PVC was softer than the Rats tooth enamel, then surely nothing woul, happen?

Pach needs to come along and tell us where the Rattus rattus tooth enamel lies on the Mho scale of hardness relative to PVC

Just saying

Holy thread resurrection!

Have heard that rats tooth enamel is an insulator which is why they can seemingly get so far thru T&E without getting a belt. Perhaps Patch can carry out some controlled experiments and post the results!

EDIT: And btw squirrel tastes alright!

The place was a mess quite a few joists worse than that and walnut shells everywhere!

:C

Been there a few times you have to be careful of the traps :|
Are they FEN traps?

Put some in my mum's loft as Cyril the Squirrel and his family had chewed through the plastic water pipe.

Tested the trap with a broom handle...still not found the end of it!
