my ring main earths are two radials is it unsafe? Or just not to regulations? My L go in a ring and also my N.

time served sparky, knows how to test for ring continuity, yet asks if its safe or not? surely you should be know the answer, and know how to find the fault, whist as binky says is most likely  a loose connection at a socket somewhere...

And more worryingly the socket where the fault is, may not have an earth at all. BOTH of them may have come out of the terminal. So not it is NOT safe.

Not a difficult fault to find, so no excuse really for not fixing it.

when earths are connected rcd trips on ring main. But when they are separated it stays on? Sorry for confusion I'm not a sparky I'm a sparks mate. Just trying to solve it. Never done much fault finding

I get loops imp readings everywhere though? Could I do away with the socket altogether? Just that one maybe?

If there is a fault find it and fix it.

Randomly disconnecting earth wires until the RCD stays in is the most cowboy of practices you should have your tools confiscated for suggesting it.

Ok so how do I this? I will fix whatever it is. I'm all alone on this job. What do I do and what could it be? The Rcd stays in when earth at one socket is disconnected. Split the ring into two radials on 2 20a mcbs? Can't get to cables as customer doesn't want any mess at all. Won't pay for it. Help.

Get your mentor or boss on site

Nobody can get here. How should I leave this place then until someone can rectify it? What should I do as a temp fix? Anything possible?

So with the earth "split" do all the sockets show an earth connection?

I am thinking not, and there's a second fault as simply joining the earths should not cause a problem. If there is a second fault, then more testing is needed.

If nobody competent can get there, the only "safe" way to leave it is with that circuit completely disconnected.

I've Split the ring at one socket everything stays on fine but then join earths together rcd goes out. All sockets show earth connection when them earths are separate but goes off when joined together again. confused.

Ok I'm testing the earthfault loop imp. Fine at every socket. Just when earths are together at one socket the rcd trips. Customer wants no mess no floor boards up. What can I do?

This begs a question about why you have been sent to site to fix a problem without the necessary tools and competence.
