That just annoys me. It's about an hours work for a sparky AT THE MOST so anyone who charges £80 for that is ripping you off (unless you live in Central London) and giving the rest of us a bad name as rip off merchants.
Dave, I disagree totally with your rip,off comment, just because you charge peanuts because you have other incomes to support you, does not mean that others do also, an hour on site may well mean a total of perhaps 3 hours by the time the site is attended to survey, quoted, materials identified, sourced, procured & supplied.
If I had to make 2 visits to that then 2 visits would be charged, I don't run a charity, so IMHO £80 is cheap.
I don't rip people off, I charge for work according to my overheads and the time, effort & materials required.
Stupid comments like yours from in the trade are simply that, stupid.
You have no idea about the details of the job, nor the details of the overheads of the company doing the work.
If you had to walk half an hour from your van to the job to do it, would you still be saying that £80 was too much?
You would be advised not to comment on the costs of jobs & the charges of others unless you know all of the details.
