In the office again.
Apart from the fact that all the R&D is likely to be wasted money now......

The Wylex rep visited this morning, with his demo`s of the kit. What he actually had was:

1. A metal clad unit with a DC iso; and an AC iso. Bit of plastic between `em, to provide separation between DC & AC.

2. A poly enclosure with a DIN meter, B16 MCB and RCD.

Then he said that the "finished product" would have the RCD and MCB in the metalclad enclosure with the DC iso.

My immediate response was that we`d have to put an external RCD in an insulated enclosure for any TT systems.

The guy doesn`t believe me - "We have specialists on the regs, who`ve helped us design this. We`ve got hundreds on pre-order".

Me: "Can we have it in a poly enclosure"?

Him: "No. We went for metallic to provide strength with all the cables going in & out" !!!! :red card

EH? there`s one lot of DC in, then back out. one lot of AC in, then back out. What is the problem with poly, FCOL?

I`ve suggested we use MeggerMark`s alternatives, which are also cheaper, and available now. Once we`ve used up the existing stock of course (at 25-30 installs a week, that won`t take long!). I`m just hoping he can get panels & inverters quick enough to keep it going.

Off in a mo - up at half five, `cos we`re back in Shrewsbury tomorrow. 4KW on tile, plus the 250W panel that was missing from last weeks job.

Then a 4KW weds in Haverfordwest (about 60 miles West) - I`ve already said I want to load up in the yard before 7.00 a.m. for that. dunno about the rest of the week yet.......................
