Hi guys

There’s an outside panel at work with an IP rating of IP55 when the doors are open in the enclosure the main panel for the equipment can be operated (start stop for motor operation. The trouble is the main enclosure door has blown off leaving the panel exposed to the elements. My supervisor has insisted we tarp over this and keep the equipment running. What are your thoughts?

It’s similar to this but when the doors are open part of the internals are exposed at the sides

As a temporary measure it isn't the end of the world and if it is correctly covering it then it is probably better than the old door.
Edit. Is it the same doors as your pic.

Do you have a safety reporting system that you formally record the issue.. Is there a nominated safety officer? The potential hazard should be raised formally and the action taken, i.e. tarping over recorded and a date given for a proper repair by a responsible person and that it is followed up, otherwise the temp "repair" could be there for eons. If there were to be consequential injury then there is a formal record of the action taken.
