Its amazing what you can get away with by using the word 'Lim'!!!!

I was told by my NICEIC assessor man, many years ago, " If you are doing a Visual then leave all the test gear in the van; test nothing ". So on a visual that is what I do AND I put a note to that effect on the paperwork. Every year when he comes round he comments on it; so if he is happy then I am happier........... :coat

Anybody know where I can get a rubber 'Lim' stamp from??????????? :run

for starters noz they where led to believe thay they where going to get a full periodic inspection. as iv stated on another post to me a periodic inspection should include at least more then 1 test which is what he has performed!

if that is the case then I think that they ought to go to trading standards

this is again in another argument noz, he has labelled it as being a Periodic Inspection not a Visual, if it had been a visual then i would of said ok fair enough

Not bad thats all I charge for a visual inspection & that is what this company seems to have done, albeit as NoZ said on the wrong paperwork.

I think your first (or you mates) port of call should be to the sparks & ask what sort of inspection he thought he should be doing...if he picks periodic then give em both barrels. But as others have said dont expect to much from NICEY & co all they will say is "between the customer & contractor"

Our argument here graham is that he is portraying this abolishment as being a Periodic Inspection Report. when in laments terms it is in fact a Visual Inspection Report! IMO the key elements to a Periodic Inspection includes : Insulation Resistance Testing, Continuity Testing, Earth Fault Loop Impedeance, and Functional Testings. I am judging them on spelling mistakes as the covering letter has clearly been written a PC which has spell checker. Personally i ensure all of my covering letters and certifications are all checked for spelling mistakes as to me it looks highly unprofessional if you can not even be arsed to hit 1 little button before clicking print!

Whilst I do think this it is a bit of a crap inspection, Im with Graham on this. It IS a PIR! with limitations which may make it seem more like a 'Visual Inspection Report'. I do a very similar inspection for

As someone has mentioned contracts - a little point 'There is no legal requirement for a written contract in this country' that is established law (Except in the dealings of Land)

You are free to negotiate a verbal contract, however, one can immediately see the problems and in any dispute where a written contract does not exist any dispute will be determined on the basis of evidence produced.

Now in a written Contract, the contract has primacy, caveats are - it must be legal and it must be accurate and not vague, a badly written contract is as bad as no contract.

When adding to a contract always get it in writing signed by the other party - it is to protect both parties!! that is what you should be telling a client (it is true by the way)
