im looking into getting a card machine to take payment via card, it would be a mobile machine, does anyone think that this would be beneficial to the business in respect of having the option to the customer of paying via credit/debit card instead of them rambling round trying to find cash?

also very rarely see electricians in my area advertising that they take card payments do you think that this would boost potential works that may arise?

thoughts and opinions welcomed

i am also thinking of getting one, esp due to high bank charges that are coming out...

i think taking a card payment will be an added bonus, as i have trouble to find time going to the

bank these days to cash cheques.

Do you still have to have a merchant account with it streety?

Merchant accounts are mentioned through it but because we have a business account that will accept card payments we dont require one from what i can gether.

the site is Chip and Pin - Credit Card Machine - Cardsave

Still too expensive IMHO!!!

I am getting more customers to pay by BACS....

those with internet banking seem to like it....

Just slap your Sort code & Bank account number on the bottom of the invoice,

give em 10working days to pay...

Jobs a goodun!

;) :Salute

I generally send customers an invoice for work done give them an envelope to post cheque back. I like the idea of BACS though may incoporate my bank details on my invoices cheers specs.

we do alredy offer that option, always put our business accnt details on a covering letter with the invoice, the idea of a card machine came from a customer who wanted to pay by credit card... and we lost the job because we didnt have the facilitys, we'r finding more and more people are using this option as a payment, got someone coming out from there to talk about it with us in more depth, and also to give us exact pricing as we are a small business it may be less then what i was told, alot of it depends on the avg earnings that we have had over the past 3 months

I found this app called smart trade. Its free and like a exactly card machine. I have recommended it to friends since i started using it and they all use it now. I would try it before i spent all that money on a card machine :) It has an option for the customer to pay fees and it does invoices ect so I find it less of a hassle. Hope this helps you :)
