Nice picture,   although your earth is only green and has no yellow!!! :)

I understand from your post and from what i have read before on hear what the claimed difference is.

I believe it.

But i also know a DNO guy that was quite high up and he claims they are all rodded and said they are the same.

I can also believe DNO just make it up like they do for there own rules.

As BS7671 say its the same and i am not going to bang rods in to see if there is a difference, and i cant believe anyone else bangs a rod in to see if it has been PME'd. In the real world i will continue to treat them as the same, if the sticker said it is i will not question there install.

As a side note on earthing and neutrals i have a quick story.

Spoke to one of my buddies ,  told me a while ago his misses thought she was getting electric shock from the shower. He also noticed and they thought they was getting shock from earthed items. He phoned our other pal who rewired the place, he got them to call DNO. Turns out there over head PME supply had lost the neutral where it meets the house (which my friend (house owner) had called DNO and told them about when he first moved in as it looked knackered but the DNO was not interested) DNO turned power off to house straight away and got it all fixed. I think he had a lucky escape.

that is the massive issue with TNCS if it is NOT rodded at the point of entry,

and that is my point exactly, if it isnt rodded at the point of entry I dont [iMHO] consider it proper PME,

as for my own house, I am TNCS, then one day the DNO came round and stuck a sticker on to say it was PME, I sent the sticker to the DNO saying it was fraudulent!

I have actually localised my own install to PME,

and yes, I am sad enough to test for PME, I dont bang rods in though, I do small spikes, and then do an Ra on them also.

I have a rod at my incomer, at the rear where my shed supply leaves my house, and also at my shed,

probably total overkill, but, I have a 5 year old and I dont want any PD.

Now I agree with what you have done.

Rodding each install to compliment its PME/TNCS makes sense to me. Yet when I have brought this up with others ( like the DNO chap who is 100x more knowledgable (and older) then me) the cant mix TT argument is the usual response.

I can't see the difference if its PME and we add an extra rod at the intake.

When I am working

I do just agree with the sticker, BS7671 and not add my own rods.

It's like the misses she might be talking complete rubbish but I just nod and agree to save any strife, though inside I am thinking what a load of bo//ox you stupid c#%*

this is a very very big misconception,

you are NOT mixing TT,

DNO should have this rod in anyway, but I'll bet its a long way off,

banging in a rod does NOT instantly make an install TT, !

I like TT BTW,  ;)   , if you hadnt already noticed........

BTW, its late,

more tomorrow when I can be bothered.
