I'm going to see a client tomorrow who has a Chinese take away.... They want to replace the existing 2 or 3 ringed gas wok hob for an electric version,, its apparently 18kW :eek:

From what I remember they only have a 100A 1ph supply so would they need DNO authority to connect this load?

BTW I haven't seen this "new" hob yet and TBH I'm thinking of steering them towards gas

 
Gas is more controllable for cooking on a hob.

The thermal mass is less, so it heats up & cools down quicker.

So gas is more instant.

Plus there is the connection thing.

Not sure about the value, but 10kW sounds about right.
