Ive just looked through the proposed Ammendment 1 due to be published 1st July 2011 and due to come into effect 1st Jan 2012.

I scanned the document available from the IET.org......

http://www.theiet.org/publishing/wiring-regulations/index.cfm?origin=homepage-wiring-regs

....and noted some of the more important points down in my own BS7671.

The proposed "Electrical Installation Condition Report" that will replace the Periodic Inspection Report will be a welcome addition in my view. More explanatory for the client to understand (not to mention myself!)

I advise all to take a look, its free to view and contains some interesting new material.

I've also had a quick scan, it appears to me that one can decide to not install an rcd

Good evening all, I have found this IET website thought I would spread the word...

http://www.theiet.org/publishing/wiring-regulations/DPC/index.cfm

Basically there are new sections, & it all comes into effect Jan 2012; but if you watch the film clips etc there is the free copy of the draft for us to comment on - this is what I thought would be useful as I believe they make some huge changes which are questionable at best...

Sorry if my post has offended anyone by stepping on toes etc. I was just trying to help. I am new to the forum and still finding my way around. I now realise that I can check other peoples threads for the same info i am about to post. The new fault code definitions are something that caught my eye too, much more straight forward for the customer i think.
No apology required the information you gave is good and its duplication is because you are new and unaware.
