Give me a clue about getting a website???

Hello,

I think its time to get a web site, but to a novice like me its scary stuff.

Any chance of a step by step idiots guide?

I hear words like domain name, web hosting, keywords??

Is it worth paying a company who create websites to do one for me and if so what should i be looking for from this service.

i made a basic website for myself using publisher. saved as HTML, then uploaded to the net. already had hosting (/email) in place, along with a 'temporary' web page for 2 years)

you can easily get hosting and domain (website name) yourself - i use xion internet

excellent customer service / support from them
