hello, I am on my early years in 2330 and will be in 2nd level by September , do i need this books with me or in the later years?

thank you

jhun

Get the on-site guide NOW (plenty of guidance in there especially for testing), save for the regs later!

Thanks guys, I am just about to click check out in amazon for both books , but as you said so , i will have onsite guide first . thank you again for the advice.

Would agree with Binky, the sooner the better.

Either way you will need both so splash out and you might get a cheaper deal on both.

Check out fleabay for some offers?

As WarrenG recommends try ebay, you will need both.

Surely you should have been advised by your tutors to have these already?

Anyway good luck with the course

I find myself agreeing with msb2003 again, thats twice in one day!

Get the onsite guide first, the regs are static where as the onsite guide helps you to understand the regulations.

Ps can anyone tell me the correct spelling of agreeing, for some reason of mind blank that spelling does not look correct to me.

However It may be I am paranoid

Go for the On Site , they must be due to change the Regs any minute now, like they always do , so we all have to shell out our

best get OSG first - has guides to most stuff you will come accross - i.e testing etc. there are also various guidance notes you could get.

7671 isnt a must for college, but you will find it useful.

Hello Jhun..

If you are intending to undertake electrical work as a serious job..

then I cannot understand why any person would not purchase the relevant guide books / regulations relating to the trade they are intending to go into.

Get the OSG first the BS7671 as soon as you have the cash.

To put things into perspective many a youngster will spend

Thanks SL , you got the point on that , what was in my mind is .. do i need it during my early years in 2330 ? or in my nxt level , but anyway , i've order it through amazon both book ... thanks again guyz .... have a nice day all

get it as you need it. In the level 3 written exams and the 17th , you are able to take them into the exams, this is essential.

stuff like 7671 should be free, or at most, the price it costs to print

A touch of real world perspective in you beer is needed there Andy! :|

Free to whom... every member of the population who requests a copy...

whether an electrician ?

or just interested in electrics?

or a tutor?

or someone doing a C&G's even if they fail and drop off the course?

how do you discriminate between eligible and non-eligible?

and who pays for all these free copies?

We have discussed this somewhere else on another older thread..

But the thing you need to remember is...

BS7671 is a specialist publication with a limited sales volume..

It is NOT you average paperback best-seller, bulk purchased and sold at your local supermarket...

The cost reflects this speciality..

Ask any other professional in other trades about specific documents/books/publications they have to purchase...

and how much they are! ;) :)

Not sure if it is actually needed in 2330..

its been a while since I did my C&G's & 2330 wasn't one of them...

but if you go on the C&G website there is info on permitted publications whilst sitting various exams..

as far as I can see BS7671 & O-S-G are both listed for 2330.

Even at full price the OSG wont break the bank & it IS a very handy book...

but the story is a bit slow in parts! :^O :^O

I can enforce your point there Specs :D

The vet textbooks have a much smaller circulation than you electrical ones.

There are medical books and vet books on the same subject by same publisher with same number of pages etc and the vet version is at least 50% more expensive. :(

I do believe you said that... or very similar the last time the cost of BS7671 was discussed....
