Oven went pop on Christmas Day (typical). Gone to try and fix it today…the plug look likes basically been on fire behind the oven (see pics).

Should this have popped a fuse somewhere before it got to this stage? I live in a new build house so this whole setup is only 2 years old.

Thanks for any assistance/advice.

Would have been better hard wired into a connection plate on the wall I'm not a fan of ovens on plugs tbh better to be hard wired like immersion heaters
I’ve been trying to work out what the building regulations state. It seems anything over 3kw should be hardwired, both of the ovens are over 3kw! I’m going to get an electrician to tell me if it’s even compliant or not. Worried me a little bit, shouldn’t be going on fire and melting should it!?

Or just the fuse itself getting hot (a fuse is a bit of resistance wire)

What is the other plug in that double socket for? Is that double socket behind the oven?

I am sure I don't need to say it, but I will, that socket also needs replacing.

App 15 advice is not installing cooking appliances >2kW on ring finals.

Have you not got a cooker outlet ?

So why is this being ignored by the manufacturers or is it too convenient for the manufacturers to put a plug on an oven running close to the limit
Although there are a lot of "electricians" who are just as bad and overlook BS 7671 App 15 when installing kitchen circuits

There is a lot of poor kitchen power installation design these days so I would not be surprised if he didn't
