I have a potential customer who needs a Triton Marbella 9.5kW shower replacing. I phoned Triton who recommend Model T80si as a like-for-like replacement.

Anyone replaced one of these? Like-for-like sounds good to me as electric and water connections should be easy, but some online reviews of performance for this model are a mixed.

I'll consider opinions around here to probably be the best.

A Triton shower is a Triton shower IME. I've fitted, replaced and skipped loads over the years. The innards are all about the same as each other, the only real difference is the look of the thing. Last few I've fitted have been the jazzy looking Mira sports with all the chrome bits as they are competitively priced these days.

Hi Lurch, Triton have quoted

...............I've never really worked out why Triton have so many different models, they're all almost the same bar a few bits of trim.
I worked in sales for some time. Our boss used to say that if you offer more than one choice you're more likely to get chosen and he used to go on about all the different cereals on supermarket shelves made by the same manufacturer (even though we were selling electrical stuff). Same kinda thinking for shower manufacturers I guess.

Triton T80si are fine , 8.5KW - 9KW no probs. If the cable /pipe entry are the same , go for it , sounds a bit expensive to me though.

I agree with Lurchio about how many different models Triton have on the market ,bewildering.

My customer said it's expensive too - they've just paid for another unexpected emergency (vet's bill), so they'll be pleased if I can make any savings for them along the way but I can't see a better way doing the job than using a like-for-like shower recommended by the manufacturers.

I think it'll be expensive because it's from the manufacturers and also because they reckon it's 'special'. If it were me I'd fit any shower and alter the pipework to suit, but usually try and get it something like a straight swap. If you are not wanting to start altering the pipework then the reduction in labour and less hassle for you is worth it. End job to the customer would probably work out the same I'd have thought, ish.

Wholesalers never offer much discount on showers TBH the big DIYers are usually the cheapest , with special offers etc .

Remember that Wickes own brand shower ,reasonable price , are Triton badged up as Wickes , have a look at them.

I presume Wickes are nationwide ???
