Well the government are looking at placing curfews and restricting young drivers from taking their friends out by car at night.

Ok seems a fairly good idea which isnt going to work, i think a zero ban on alcohol might be a better idea and compulsory night driving lessons along with motorway driving.

Im not even going to start on how my last 2 car accidents have been caused by Senior citizens!

Oh blimey  Robin , you've started a driving thread off again here .

Thing is they use the insurer's statistics I believe , which show young male drivers as the worst risk .

I think Senior Citizens are , statistically, the safest , maybe because they drive around at 20 MPH , I don't know.

But the youngsters they go out clubbing and drinking, then when that's finished at about 3am they then decide after taking MDMA to go joy riding, that's what they are trying to stop.

If that had been in place when I was an apprentice, it would have been impossible for me to drive back & fore to work, there were no buses that ran to get me there without a couple of mile walk to the bus stop, then catching the bus and another couple of mile walk the other end & a 15 mile walk is a bit extreme, I suppose I could have cycled, but the motorbike was cold enough in the winter.

See @ 17 I was on shift work, 6-2 & 2-10, @ 18 I was on 3 shifts so 10-6 added.

Plus these were jiggled about for college which I did 9-9 one day a week & 2 evenings 6-9.

Round here public transport has got worse not better too!

Plus we were "on the clock", literally, we had to clock in and out, and we were only allowed 3 mins grace else we lost a 1/4hr, and if this was regular, then it was disciplinary.

Whilst I realise that they want to make things safer, education is perhaps another option, which seems to be sadly lacking in many these days.

My kids have friends who have jobs where they are employed till 10, or 11pm or start at 5 am, so how will kids ever get jobs if they can't get to them?

Sorry for starting yet another driving thread, but perhaps it might catchup with rods and sheds lol!

I thought it was current as it has been on the news and another ridiculous coalition policy to boot.

Off to bed in a minute, as i have 12 babies to make as i need the house extending and want a new plasma tv :D

All paid for by you lot hehe :/

People stupid enough to do that probably arent going to care what age and when they are "supposed" to be allowed on the roads

Just saw that waster in the paper.............

I can`t repeat my comments - lets say they contained some short, colorful, Anglo-Saxon words ;)

@ Robin :)

Its all smoke and mirrors mate.   They probably won't go through with it unless the insurers really push it then it will be watered down into something pointless...

There was also talk of not being able to have passengers in the first year? WTF  headbang

A more Scandinavian approach to driver training would help a great deal.

OH....

bu99er!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

are you back already????

Hope Steptoe remembered to refill the beer fridge??

Deke was trying to keep count of how much beer we took out  while you were away....

But....

his spread sheet did crash once.. or twice with the quantities..

even though canoey and steps both said it wasn't the beer quantities that crashed it it was something to do with Deke leaving his Windowz open ???

Anyway....

a few of those top brand premium beers were a bit expensive to replace...

so there may be one or two supermarket own brand tins in there instead!!!

other than that....

Was it a good break Martyn???

In Australia you get 6 points and you loose your licence and if you get stopped for a breath test you are not allowed any reading except zero within the first 2 years of getting your licence as if do then good bye to your licence.

Yesterday i went to visit parents who live other side of leominster. As i dont get to see them often they kee us there all day and so it was 9.30pm before we left for home.

On the way back there was a car doing 35 to 40mph and when i eventually got past him by the peacock inn all he did was flash me and purposely kept his hi-beam on!

I hate drivers like that.
