Running A 24V Battery Drill Off Mains...?

Agreed Lurch. A heavy enough psu would be around the £60 Mark... Just seems a shame to have them sitting there. I keep saying I'll have a clear out and get all my old (sh*t) used tools on flea bay - I'm sure I'd make a few quid as people will by ANYTHING! Cheers.

Running A 24V Battery Drill Off Mains...?

The cheap batteries aren't much cop - I've had a few... I don't want to buy more machines spending more money. The whole idea is to make use of what I've got. I'll let you know if I find anything...

Running A 24V Battery Drill Off Mains...?

Hi, I've got a drill graveyard in my store including 2 off 24V makita's (brh24?). I'm looking for a mains in; 24VDC out PSU to hard-wire into the machine (or even chop into a old battery) to bring them to life as corded tools. They are quality machines and good for labourers to use for...

    3 Pin Blue 16A Socket

Thanks for the replies chaps... Got a plan sorted - it's a really old building with a pig of a route back to CU. Going to swap CU (no RCD's) then run a 40A 10mm radial to a little board in cooking area feeding 3 16A radials with 3 pin sockets. Turning into quite a nice job actually...

    3 Pin Blue 16A Socket

Hi, Got bit of a question... Looked at a job (large takeaway shop)... They have a single 32A ring to cooking area - appliances (kebab, Bain Marie etc) are on plug tops...the twin surface skts are soon burning out - this must be due to the length of time the appliances are in use and the load...

    Vx1-Voltage-Optimiser.

Hi, Has anyone heard of a 'globus homes VX1 voltage optimiser'? As voltage optimisers go, they seem very good value or cheap & nasty. Mate of mine rates them - it's not my area as yet... Any comments? Would value your input! Darren.

    Is This A Pme?

Zero earth - 1000 ohms Zs. I should've pulled the fuse really. The old dears have DNO fitting PME & cut out next week. CU is wooden wylex. It's been bothering me!  What would you do...?

    Is This A Pme?

The black cover allows access to the N terminal and the moulded case of the incomer does have an earth symbol on it together with cable entry points... There's no official PME stickers though.

    Is This A Pme?

Looked at a job yesterday. The suppliers kit looked recently upgraded. There is a facility on the suppliers incomer to connect an earth - but, there is no labling to say it is permissible to use as a PME. I've tried to upload a pic but it's too large.. I've cropped it and it workedaq Btw...

    Found During A Pir

Great having a spare to 'make fit'... You know... I've got a thing about burnt neutral terminals (as per my last but few post). I'm convinced there are more burnt neutrals than lives... but no-one knows why. Maybe I need to get out more (or a holiday?...lol!), but I'm getting a bit OCD about...

    Samsung Cctv Kit Sde-3003

Thanks KME! The cams in the kit have RJ45 connections but no dip switches to set an address . This is why I think they aren't IP. Actually, the UI on the stock client is quite slick. The kit retails on Amazon around £200 - not cheap? Cheers.

    Samsung Cctv Kit Sde-3003

Hi, Had the joy of installing a customer supplied kit the other day. It's a samsung 'mickey mouse' kit with 2 cams and a DVR. The cams are connected with CAT5 cable and terminated at each end with RJ45's. Customer wants me to supply and install another 2 cams. It doesn't look like the cams...

No Banjo On Swa - C3?

Yes, armourings used as cpc - Zs at sub board is good. This shows good mechanical contact at both ends of the SWA to chassis. With this in mind, I'll make a C3 observation due to no banjo's - I'm sure you can understand my original question when I'm quizzed about the comment? Btw, I tend to...

No Banjo On Swa - C3?

Hi, Did an EICR recently - one of the 3P subs used a 35mm 4C SWA. There was no banjo at either end - Zs was fine (testing with only cable CPC/armourings) Can't find an actual reg saying a banjo is needed...opinions on the classification? Cheers.

    Fsm3 Certificate...

Yep... I've already been there and book-marked it as my last resort! Really appreciate the reply.

    Fsm3 Certificate...

Hi, I've done an 'over-haul' on an existing commercial fire alarm system recently. I repaired several faults (rat nibbled FP) and changed all heads & bases. The site is an 'enterprise inns' pub - the landlord is forced to use a certain FM company. I've seen the previous certs - they're...

    Suggestions For A Time-Switch

Coin meter has suggested by the owner much to 'the girls' horror... funny though! The push timers seem really sticky and take a good 'click' to activate - loading is minumul... I've fitted lots in the past with no probs, Btw, the splashproof shroud is as much as the switch (£12ish...)

    Suggestions For A Time-Switch

Hi, I look after a stable yard - I was asked recently to fit 'timer switches' to paddock and stable front lighting... apparently they keep being 'left on' when weren't needed. I fitted 2 pneumatic push timers (with rubber shrouds to make the splash proof - not cheap)... they didn't like'em...

    Down Lights Again!

BD, Must be heat/insulation making the MR16s/TXs fail - I've had 12  in my kitchen which have ran for 11 years (admittedly... I don't let the wife use them much - you should hear how she complains at wearing my head torch)... Must get round to swapping out for LED GU10s..  As already said, I'd...

    Why Always The Neutral?

See what you mean Badger... But, the current flowing in N still can't be more than 30mA different to the 'love' current ...  lol! So.... Why does the N burn out first? I'm not losing sleep over this... Just don't like 'not understanding' Something! Darren.
