I understand your way of thinking there SSAB...No Spec i did not even look over his shoulder, promise ] I must not cheat ,i must not cheat,i must not cheat. :^O
And so back to the classroom-I now have my upstairs circuit(landing light)
my ground floor circuit (hall light)
Two two gang two way switches
two three core+e providing two way switching between the two circuits
Now to my way of thinking, i will now have to isolate both mcb's to work on these switches. This can't be right ? can it!.
Please only answer this if i dont have to do detention
Sorry admin i should of posted this in 17th post methinksBlushing
but I was just quoting the guidance wot I read...
I think at the end of the day its that subtle difference between..
Planned maintenance work.. (e.g. replacing a switch)
and a fault knocking out all of your stairway lights!
which is the greater risk of endangering a person..
option 1.
a skilled / trained person.. undertaking maintenance work.. following safe isolation.
option 2.
a non-skilled / Joe public, (maybe elderly?) tripping down the 'unlit' stairs to go to the fuse box.. ?
again.. not all landing arrangements are in combined switches..
you could run to two separately located switch plates if you wanted?
as another after thought..
Spose you also need to isolate the WHOLE installation before opening up a CU?
cuz of all those potential live circuits and nasty wires in there??? ; )
Best not hi-jack this thread any more...
Or admin will give us BOTH detention & the birch! :O
