To be blunt,It is not a "Nice Job"

I can see a 230v cable in the same place as low voltage stuff like scart leads, all out of safe zones.

I can't be bothered to look up the regs the moment, but this does not meet them

visible behind the tv, and if they start drilling above it befor removing the tv then they deseve a shockO)

Unlikely you would want to hang a pic of your wife ,kids, dog etc under a chest of drawers, but under a wall mounted TV?

This gets my goat.
I use this to get my goat

I don't see a problem with a hidden socket behind a tv with regard to safe zones.

P.S Is that the finished plastering? I suspect you just might be able to make out where the cables run, even after painting. I think a finishing coat may be needed. :innocent

I am not entirely sure safe zones are very well thought out.

Some people, if hanging something above a socket or switch, might in order to make it look right, go to great pains to ensure they put the fixing EXACTLY on the centreline of of the switch or socket.

OOPS.

you have not seen my wife, kids or dog (mostly due to the fact i dont have a wife, kids or dog)

what about above a chest of draws. really if your drilling you need to have a good look around first for current using equipmet fixed or free standing

This might be your first job Gav, but make your next one better otherwise this lot will want blood. Oh and you might want to do a 12 week course on plastering!

Strictly speaking though Gav if you are going to run a 230v cable in a wall whether a flex in trunking or other then you'd be best advised to stick it in a safe zone route.

I have seen a drawing pin stuck in a cable, i suppose the wall was to hard. Then there's Andy pic of a nail or something in some mini trunking.

I am crap at plastering so i always leave the finish a few mill below the finished wall & then give it a skim of filler, Tetrion is my prefered choice.

scrap the plaster gav easyfill is much better, i find anyway

It is still never easy for anyone to start a new life and get everything perfect. We all start somewhere the problem today that I never had to contend with is the fact that whilst on my own, I always had more experianced guys looking over my shoulder and pointing me in the right direction.Sadly this is now lost, and regardless of qualifications gained, the experiance gained by working with your peers far outseeds those primative exam based questionairs

If it was more than 50mm deep in a wall it wouldnt comply with building regs and is your trunking earthed metal to comply with BS7671?
