:red card What is it with people at the moment?

Call this afternoon - can I go to Ammanford (approx 15 miles) to look at a job- they need 2nd fix done NOW!

Lying F^&*%$ !

Some wallaby has done first & second fix on a new build (doesn`t even have an address yet, FCOL).

Badly done, I should say - it doesn`t comply on SOOOOOOOO many things, and thats just from a visual glance.

The guy knows its carp, and doesn`t care, cos it was cheep.

"If you give us a blank certificate, we`ll fill it in for you; all you have to do is sign it. Then you could give us a price for the next one." They didn`t even mention LABC???!!! :red card

Even allowing for the filters, I`m not posting my response. It was ruddy hot in that van, I got a bit annoyed with this guy`s attitude, and really told him what I thought of him & the "wiring".

What a waste of most of the afternoon - and a gallon of ruddy fuel. Bar stewards.

KME - rant over (for the moment).

id send him an invoice for the time and the petrol!!! then id contact LABC and report it!

isnt it great when it backfires

priced a job for a builder a while back. too expensive. then phones a few month later once job is complete asking me to sign it off. er, no.

AS KME said it was a new build I would imagine that the LABC are already aware of the job and have had building inspectors visiting at earlier stages of the work. I guess they are now asking the builder for the gas/electric/window certificates etc to sign the work off. Hence the builder has gone hunting for an NIC contractor because thats who he thinks can sign work off. Sorry to hear of more bad news for you KME. Hope things pick up a bit over at your place.

Yes getting more frequent these types of calls.

Mine today was a verbal one while doing some pat'ing at a primary school. I noticed an additional socket (I usualy do all their sparking work so noticed it straight away), mentioned it was sheite work the response....

"oh yes one of the teachers husbands is a keen diyer so helped out at short notice when she needed an extra socket for the pc's, we need to get it certificated....any chance while you are here?"

No but when I re-wire it & use containment I shall include the cert with the invoice..... "oh right, can you do it this week"

The evidence :

Spur taken from here (the cat5 is damaged next to the t/e) nice knot the t/e was toooooo long.

Runs behind bookcase (does that count as an obsticle or out of reach)

Terminates here for the pc's

Must be a week for all of us to sign other peoples work off. Had a customer that I had done work for via a builder which I had signed off. She now wants me to sign a previous job off via another builder. I told her it would only be a PIR as i could not sign other work off but told her to check with council if they will accept this have to wait and see. Don't really want the job but probably will do it if they accept a PIR.

KME,

deffo send an invoice in, and perhaps a little indication that if it doesnt get paid as to what other steps will be taken,

ie, building control and scams notifications

We're not even allowed to use twin and earth cable when carrying out work for the local authority. FP 200 to be used.

Sign off the work, take your time check as much as you can, then charge triple.
