Where the wild things are
Just like the Americans leaving Vietnam with their tails between their legs the container loads of plastic consumer units are being pushed into the sea to make room for the new "non combusable" consumer units...

looking at the back of the rag that comes through the letterbox there are some deals to be had.

The one that caught my eye: (must be typo) 15 way wylex loaded with main sw, 2x 80a rcd, 10x mcb and GET THIS 5 rcbo's!!! for £49.99 and it comes with 10x 1g 35mm back boxes.

Other deals to be had! A good time to stock up on breakers!!

edit: By the time anyone gets there they will be out of stock!!

That's good.

I've been buying a few of the BG 10 way ones for £40 with two arseedees and 10 mcb's.

Might have to buy a couple of those Wylex ones before they all go. You also get 10 1G back boxes as part of that bundle.

The stupidity is you can buy that box fully loaded for £49.99 but directly below it on the page is the same box with just the main switch and arseedees for the bargain price of £58.

I wonder if they got those two the wrong way round?

I think that is an Electricfix deal not a Screwfix price. Looks like no more in stock for delivery, but limited stock at a few stores. Why is it these fully equipped boards have combinations of 6A, 10A, 16A, 32A, 40A. but rarely include any 20A MCB or RCBO?

+1. If you log on as an Electricfix customer the £100 changes to £49.99 ex VAT

Now if there were 10 of them in Inverness it might have been a worthwhile trip.

I wonder what they would sell for on ebay?

There's 7 available in Aberdeen.

Local TLC had loaded insulated 10 way dual rcd contactum units for £33 today.

Screweys do my head in

Sunday dropped in to Screwfix to pick up a rod, clamp & earth rod inspection pit (I know working on a Sunday?) "here you are sir.................ermm are you an electrician & do you have proof"

After I stopped laughing I pointed out he didn't ask the woman before me if she was a sparks & she purchased light fittings sockets and a set of 25mm tails.

Cheeky fuuuuunt!

Was probably asking to get you signed up for electric fix not questioning your trade. They couldn't give a toss who they sell products too but love getting people on trade counters

No, they do do that, did the same to me years ago when it was first launched. Told them to get bent and then next thing I know an Electricfix catalogue lands on the doormat and I am a member.

That's weird the difference in attitude. I popped into mine late one Sat/Sun afternoon and the Electricfix counter was closed. I was only going in to get a tube of Fischer resin for home but always use the Electricfix counter for everything because of the free tea & doughnuts. That and it's 5 minutes from me. There I was standing at the peasant's counter

and the guy next to me was buying ten back boxes. As the S'fix guy hands them over he says to this bloke "You know you can get an Electricfix card?". No word of a lie the bloke says "Nah mate, I'm only doing me own house". S'fix guy; "Still, if you're going to be needing loads of stuff it might be worth it.......".

A sparks I know went in with his mate, as in friend not work colleague and after going through what qualifications HE had to get his card they turned to his mate "Would you like one too Sir?". Didn't have to show anything just said "That'll be well handy I'm doing my house up!"

There's 3 of those boards in Tonbridge btw, 2 in Aylesford, 5 in Bradford, 3 in Taunton etc

£££ talks!

I have a "problem" at the trade counter at Screwy's.  Aparently I should have a card that shows I am an electrifix customer.  Well if I ever had one, I have lost it.  So I can order stuff on line from "electrifix" but at the trade counter I am treated as a pleb and told to go next door into the plebs shop.

The only card I have is my Trade UK account card, but that is not what they were asking for.

must be lucky here, decent staff who you can actually talk to... unlike the mackem branch, never been back to it after they told me i had to use the trade side even though 4 of them were standing around doing nothing with no other customers, an the trade side had a large queue...

Big thanks (and a scoob) to the Duck for highlighting this...

I hadn't seen it, but after browsing the forum, then had to go a browsing the SF site....

The 5 nearest local SF outlets didn't have any stock but a tad further, (extra 10mile detour)....

I now have two of them!   £119.96 inc Vat for the pair!

Worth it just for the  10xRCBO's  and  4xRCD's,   the other breakers main switches and metal back boxes are just added bonus.

Plastic enclosures may or may not ever get used.

Well spotted Blue Duck!

Your customer account No should identify what sort of customer you are.......

Unless you have got two accounts on the system....

many moons ago I had two account No's   one full name, other just initial and surname.... They didn't twig that the addresses were identical!!!!!

I don't have any other card except the Trade UK account card, but that's just for purchasing stuff on account.

Actually I didn't think you could have a Trade UK card unless you were either Electricfix or Plumbfix.
