Hi Everyone

I have a problem with one of my storage heaters so was looking around for inspiration and came across this site, so was wondering if anybody could help.

It is a Robinson Willey, (RW) heater, but i can't see any model number on there. Its a large 3 element unit. Whats happened is that my wonderful wife (!) decided to put some clothes over it and since then it has been stone cold, so i'm guessing that its overheated and tripped. Ive had the covers off and found a reset switch under the right cover which ive pressed but it has not come back to life. Ive checked the fuse in both the socket its connected to and at the consumer unit and both seem ok. So is there anywhere else in the heater that i should be checking?

Thanks for your help

Paul

fuse-ible link possibly gone,

Im not au-fait with that particular make, but most of them have a fuse link inbuilt, if this goes its a replacement part.

maybe someone else thast knows the particular heater will be along soon and can be more help.

Thanks for the reply

I have found this site that lists the parts, the picture on this link http://www.storageheater.co.uk/Models/RW/RW14_49A.htm shows parts 4 and 5 which relate to what ive got here, though the reset is just a push button, and the part it calls the Limit Thermostat is the top one without the L at the end of the part number. Is that what you think could have gone?

Cheers

No does not click, just pushes and releases again, have tried both with power there and without.

So just replace that switch and all should be solved with a bit of luck, is there anything on the 'limit thermostat' on the link above which could have failed too? Or would that just trip the switch?

That looks like a re badged Dimplex.

If the limit stat won't reset, replace it.

they write "do not cover" on the top for a reason.  Point this out to your wife. Then run.

Yep been through that stage :) If i spot so much as a sock on any of them now they get launched :)

Will order a limit stat and see how it goes, looks about 15 quid so worth a try.
