what I do in these circumstances is install the new DB and a single socket right beside it... do the EIC with Ze values from the book and dead tests

It usually keeps them happy!

Only advice I can give is to go to your local college and speak to them about the courses available. They should be able to give you all the information that you need to get started on the road to being an Electrician
